A plain guide to peptide care

The rules · An explainer

Does the offer mean what it says?

Peptide in an offer's name leaves too much open for one yes-or-no answer to cover all offers. Ask for the exact medicine. Find out its status: does it have FDA approval, or will a pharmacist or doctor prepare it for an order?

Check the product and its purpose.

Ozempic and Wegovy are semaglutide products with FDA approval; Mounjaro and Zepbound are approved tirzepatide products. These are examples of the approved medicines as of September 26, 2026.

FDA · Product approval records

When you see FDA, read it as Food and Drug Administration. This agency handles federal medicine review.

Ask which specific product is proposed and which health condition it is meant to address. An approval for a named product does not settle whether an offer is the right care for you.

Compounding has conditions, not a blanket promise.

Compounding describes making medicine for an order. As of September 26, 2026, this can be lawful if the rules for making and supplying it are met. The finished medicine is not FDA-approved.

FDA · Compounding and its conditions

The rules limit how often pharmacies or doctors can make close copies of medicines already available, and how many they can make. A prescriber can write down how a change makes an important difference for one named patient compared with the ready-made medicine.

Federal law via Cornell · Conditions on medicine copies

A price cut by itself cannot qualify as an important change in that patient's medicine.

For example, ask whether a dye you are allergic to could be left out. Ask the prescriber why that change matters for you.

A research label does not settle the issue.

In warning letters reviewed as of September 26, 2026, FDA said sellers were offering products as medicines for people despite labels saying they were for research. FDA said selling these unapproved drugs broke the law.

FDA · A dated enforcement letter on intended use

Those letters state what FDA says particular firms did wrong. They are not court decisions.

The purpose a product is offered for matters under drug law. That includes claims to treat a disease or to alter the way the body functions.

Remote care also has state requirements.

As of September 26, 2026, state rules for online prescribing differ; a national sales page does not supply a state-specific answer.

HHS · State requirements and licences

Ask the service to explain its permission to treat you where you are. Bring the exact medicine name into that question.
